You will receive a comprehensive list of what to pack once a Journey has been confirmed. Items are for personal use only and should fit in carry-on luggage.

Standard Journey kit includes a mattress, sleeping bag or bedding, eating utensils, water bottle, and backpack.

Most journeys are run outside the summer season, with cold to cool nights and warm to hot days. Rainfall is not normally anticipated but possible.

The menu considers dietary requirements within local availability. We carry water, tea, and coffee. Okavango river water is potable; Makuleke water is purified with supplied drops. No carbonated drinks or alcohol.

Botswana journeys use two-person 2m x 2m ripstop canvas dome tents with sewn-in groundsheets, insect netting, and canvas flaps.

Campsites are selected with good visibility and/or cover, and the group sleeps around the campfire.

A night-watch roster ensures one group member is awake to maintain the campfire. Guides manage unexpected encounters.

We wash in rivers used for drinking. Toilets use a shovel and gravity-operated hole in the ground.

Listen to your wilderness facilitator. Snakes are present.

Limited generator or solar power at base camps; none in the bush. No Wi-Fi, mobile connections, or landlines in remote wilderness.

Yes, the charter company or lodge will store it for your return.

No. Your facilitator will take photos before and after the wilderness immersion and share them with you.

No incoming messages on trail. Emergency messages can be sent out via the lodge or Wild.Life office, though this may take time. We carry an emergency radio. In life-threatening situations, a doctor assesses, and helicopter evacuation to a hospital is arranged.

Guides carry a first aid kit (no EpiPen) and are trained responders. Bring personal medications. European/USA travelers typically don’t need vaccinations, but confirm with your health office. Low risk of malaria and tick-bite fever; consult a travel medical professional for malaria prophylaxis and use organic insect repellent.

Our cover includes evacuation but not hospital expenses. Ensure your policy provides adequate protection. Contact us for our insurance policy document.
